Just because it’s starting to get cooler, and the daylight hours fewer, doesn’t mean that you can’t celebrate the freshness and abundance of Autumn – from the comfort of indoors.
We had plans to take a picnic and enjoy the beauty of our lakeside neighbourhood, with the colours changing in the trees and the lovely soft light; but Mother Nature had other ideas, and delivered rain throughout the day. Undeterred, we brought the party inside and set up our Weber Q under shelter, to create a colourful, nourishing and tasty Autumnal feast.
Plaited corn, charred in the husk on the barbecue, smothered in lime and chilli butter, and a colourful and tasty roast vegetable and halloumi salad were prepared, and showcased the best of Autumnal produce. We show you how to prepare these no-fuss dishes.
Bruschetta was made for celebrations – it’s simple, and is a great way to showcase seasonal produce. So, when you’re feeding a crowd, it won’t break the bank. It’s also more than tomatoes and basil. We’ve made bruschetta 5 ways, using ingredients as diverse as smoked salmon, fig and olives.
We’ll also help skill you up, by showing you how to spatchcock a chicken – it’s simpler than it sounds, and will cut your cooking times! Our knife sharpening video also shows how, with some simple kit, anyone can be more in the kitchen.
Simple, affordable and tasty was the order of the day. So to wash our banquet down we made an Autumnal Sangria. We’ve written down the recipe, but it’s a kind of anything goes punch/cocktail, that always impresses.
We invite you to join us, and be inspired to taste the best of Autumn and get more from this special season.
